Florian Zeller's latest play The Son transfers to the Duke of York's Theatre fresh from its English language premiere at the Kiln Theatre, formerly the Tricycle Theatre. Directed by Michael Longhurst (Caroline, or Change, Amadeus), The Son stars Amanda Abbington.
As a family breaks down, a son begins to unravel. Nicolas is skipping school, lying to his family, hiding strange objects under his mattress. Is this typical teenager behaviour or a warning sign of hopelessness?
The Son transfers to the Duke of York's Theatre from 24th August to 2nd November, with tickets are now on sale.
The highly anticipated UK premiere The Son came to the Kiln as part of its first season under its new name, and follows the sold-out Olivier Award-winning The Father which starred Claire Skinner and Kenneth Cranham. Longhurst directed Zeller's critically-acclaimed The Mother, while the playwright's other work includes The Lie, The Height of the Storm and The Truth.
Joining Abbington reprising her role form the original production will be Laurie Kynaston, John Light and Amaka Okafor. The production is translated by Christopher Hampton, and features designs by Lizzie Clachan, lighting by Lee Curran, compositions by Isobel Waller-Bridge, and casting by Amy Ball.
The Son tickets are now on sale.
