The final production in Jamie Lloyd's season at the Playhouse Theatre, Jessica Chastain will make her West End debut in a new version of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House, adapted by Frank McGuinness.
Ibsen's A Doll's House was first performed in 1879, and focusses on a family: lawyer Torvald Helmer, his wife Nora and their three children. Torvald considers himself a noble man, and is dismayed when he discovers a secret Nora, whom he sees as innocent and almost like his property, has been keeping from him, even though it may have saved his life.
Chastain, who has starred in the films Interstellar, The Help and The Martian, will make her London stage debut in the production. She made her Broadway debut in 2012 when she appeared in The Heiress at the Walter Kerr Theatre, and later appeared in The Children's Monologues in 2017. She will take on the role of Nora in Jamie Lloyd's production of A Doll's House.
Further casting is set to be announced in due course.
