After workshop performances and shows as part of MTFest UK, But I’m A Cheerleader receives its premiere at the Turbine Theatre. The But I’m A Cheerleader musical is based on the 1999 film of the same name, starring Natasha Lyonne. But I’m A Cheerleader tickets are available on London Theatre now.
But I’m A Cheerleader centres on Megan, an all-American high school cheerleader who seemingly has the perfect life. Everything is going swimmingly, until her friends and family grow convinced that she is a lesbian. To “cure” her sexuality, Megan is sent to ‘True Directions’, a rehabilitation camp to encourage her to become heterosexual. Life-changing revelations are discovered at camp though, and when Megan meets sexy tomboy Graham, Megan learns more about herself than she thought possible.
During the casting process for the But I’m A Cheerleader film, efforts were made to ensure a diverse cast. The film’s cast include RuPaul Charles, Dante Basco, Douglas Spain, and Clea DuVall. The But I’m A Cheerleader film has gained a cult following, and the musical adaptation looks set to do the same.
