David Harbour and Bill Pullman will star in the world premiere of Theresa Rebeck’s play, Mad House, at the Ambassadors Theatre. Mad House tickets are available on London Theatre now.
As the Mad House play premieres in London in summer 2022, not much is known about what the story entails. However, the play is billed as a “dark comedy”, so expect to laugh at macabre storylines and scathing social commentary.
Mad House is set in rural Pennsylvania, and follows siblings, Michael, Ned and Pam as they work out how much money their dying father has left them, and how to acquire the money. At first, it seems that splitting the money should be an equal split, but just like the sibling rivalry in King Lear, not everything goes according to plan. Press material states Mad House follows “a family reunion with last disrespects” so don’t expect conversations to be plain sailing.
David Harbour will play Michael in Mad House London performances. The Emmy-winning actor is best known for playing Jim Hopper in the Netflix series, Stranger Things. He’s also starred in West End productions, notably playing Nick in Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf over 15 years ago. Mad House will allow West End audiences to reunite with David Harbour.
Bill Pullman is also in Mad House in the West End. Recently, Pullman's starred in the TV series, The Sinner as lead police detective, Harry Ambrose. Pullman's West End credits include All My Sons at the Old Vic.
Mad House reunites playwright Theresa Rebeck and director Moritz von Stuelpnagel. Previously, they’ve worked together on New York plays such as Bernhardt/Hamlet and Seared. Now, they’ll stage Mad House in London in summer 2022.
