Camden People's Theatre
Camden People's Theatre (CPT) was founded in May 1994 by a group of theatre practitioners interested in developing a collaborative working method and a visual, gestural style of performance. At first, CPT occupied the Palmerston pub on Hampstead Road, London, and wanted to create invigorating theatre that was affordable and involved the local community.
CPT’s mission statement is “to support early-career artists making unconventional theatre – particularly those whose work explores issues that matter to people now”. Since 1997, CPT has programmed the annual Sprint Festival, London’s biggest and best festival of new and unusual theatre. Two thirds of all attendees at CPT shows are under 34.
