Beverley Knight and Keala Settle to star in ‘Sister Act’

Beverley Knight will play Deloris Van Cartier in the highly-anticipated revival of Sister Act in London. Sister Act is at the Eventim Apollo from 19 July to 28 August, and Sister Act tickets are available now.
Knight is currently leading The Drifters Girl company as Faye Treadwell, and will depart from the production in July. She’s nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Actress for The Drifters Girl too, in a category alongside Sutton Foster, Jessie Buckley, and Stephanie McKeon — find out more about the Oliviers here.
The Sister Act cast includes Keala Settle as Sister Mary Patrick. Settle will make her West End debut later this month as the Nurse in & Juliet. Settle is best known for playing Lettie Lutz in The Greatest Showman.
Jennifer Saunders will play Mother Superior, joined by Lesley Joseph as Sister Mary Lazarus, Clive Rowe as Eddie Souther and Lizzie Bea as Sister Mary Robert.
The cast includes Jeremy Secomb, Graham McDuff, Tricia Deighton, Lori Haley Fox, Tom Hopcroft, Bradley Judge, Tanya Edwards, Catherine Millsom, Anne Smith, Emma Ralston, Jermaine Woods, Michael Ward and Caroline Bateson, with further casting to be announced.
The new, reworked Sister Act features an updated script, with the role of Deloris now written for an older actress. However the story remains the same — Sister Act follows lounge singer Deloris Van Cartier, a lounge singer who is placed on a witness protection programme and joins a convent.
Sister Act features a book by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner and Douglas Carter Beane, music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater.
Bill Buckhurst directs, along with a creative team including Alistair David as choreographer, Morgan Large as set and costume designer, Tim Mitchell as lighting designer, and Tom Marshall as the sound designer.
Sister Act is at the Eventim Apollo.
